All Things Bright and Beautiful Neena Singh, Chandigarh, India

    time-travel
    walking with my father
    under a starry sky
    his poetic voice
    resounds in my ears

On a walk to Kirke Park, Seattle, with my 5-year-old grandson, we share and revel in the natural and living wonders that we encounter: leaves turning; the smile and greeting of a stranger; the watchful eyes of a tabby cat in the alley; the ah so sweet red raspberries, ripe to pluck; the baby snail in the garden; a fragrant lavender bush with hordes of bumblebees buzzing in and out; the luminous white daisies with yellow hearts.

He points his little hand, chatting excitedly at everything he sees; and I pause to look at these wonders through his eyes.

    despite entropy…
    the quantum soup
    bubbles afresh
    as he holds my hand
    to cross the road
